Didn’t Have to Fall

.

gray squares. gray. with great speed. great.

slow prayers. slow. with quick needs. quick.

.

we found the tip of the mountain

and could hear it, hear it all

we found the knot in the fountain

and could heal our, heal our fall

.

then

you came to me, came down

you came to me came down

we didn’t have to call it, we didn’t have to call

you didn’t have to fall in

you didn’t have to fall

.

i came to you, came down

then i came to you, came down

you know i didn’t have to fall in

i didn’t have to call it,

i didn’t have to call

.

yellow bones. yellow. triangle. tri-hang.

lightning powered, light. blush and shower.

.

we found the spine in the ladder

and could see it, see it all

we found the climb in the chapter

and stepped over the wall

.

you came to me, came down

you came to me came down

we didn’t have to call it, we didn’t have to call

you didn’t have to fall in

.

i came to you, came down

then i came to you, came down

i didn’t have to fall in,

i didn’t have to call

What Kind of Freedom?
*********************************
Winter’s holding spring
The darkest forces have done no good
I’ve tucked away your wedding ring
Our stripes are fading from the loom.
*
The neighbors are flooding in
Forming into power lines
Bubbling in ballot sheets
I hope that love will win this time.
*
It’s a closed room with a closed door
It’s a dark game, with the wrong score
We file in line, we fight your wars
But what kind of freedom have we been fighting for?
*
With the body comes the foot,
with old trees come old roots
We’re marching for the common good,
but your false laws we’ll not salute.
*
It’s a closed room with a closed door
It’s a dark game, with the wrong score
We file in line, we fund your wars
But what kind of freedom have we been fighting for?
*
Baby come close to me,
I’ll wear your arm, I’ll your ring
Their machines can’t clip our strings
We’re not equal under the eagles wing.
*
It’s a closed room with a closed door
It’s a dark game, with the wrong score
We file in line, we fight your wars
But what kind of freedom have we been fighting for?

WAITING UP FOR YOU ~ TEN CENT POETRY

We’re waiting up for you

oil low in our lanterns

coffee and kahlua

a roll of film in the camera

Will you be here soon?

Cause we’re waiting up for you!

Laughter floods the moon. over an

endless game of cards

as your vessel crosses the mark

that separates near from far

Will you be here soon?

Cause I’m waiting up for you!

I’ve saved all your letters from this fall

Carefully bound them together after tearing the envelopes apart

There’s a glowing tent pitched in my heart

And we’re waiting up for you

My foot sheds it’s shoe

broth warming in a pot

we’re exchanging family stories that we

may have other words forgotten

Will you be here soon?

Cause I’ll wait my whole life for you!

I’ve saved all your letters from this fall

Carefully bound them together after tearing the envelopes apart

There’s a glowing tent pitched in my heart

And we’re waiting up for you

We’re waiting up for you

in this midnight circle

We’re waiting up for you

the night draped in purple

We’re waiting up for you

the cat’s on the table

We’re waiting up for you

crickets singing from the gables

Will you be here soon?

Cause we’re waiting up for you!
